At 12,000 feet, Mt Kassioun dominates the Damascus skyline. The ridge at the summit is crowded with cafés and food stands and is a popular spot to watch the sunset. Even after dark people enjoy a drink while taking in the amazing view of the city.
Reputedly the place where Cain killed Abel and Muhammed caught his first sight of Damascus, the mountain is also a major feature of the city’s religious heritage.
